- Global Cup Cafe
Check out the new Global Cup Cafe website at www.globalcupcafe.com!!!
The Global Cup Cafe is our second cafe on UNC-Chapel Hill’s Campus. Featuring the same great coffee drinks as our sister cafes, as well as a wider variety of food, beverages, and seating, the Global Cup is a great place to meet, work, or relax. If the line’s long at the Daily Grind, or you’d like to sit and surf the web while drinking the same great coffee, come check out the Global Cup.
Spacious.
Located in the FedEx Global Education Center, the Global Cup Cafe is a bright and spacious place to get your work done, grab lunch with friends and co-workers, and enjoy our quality specialty coffee beverages. Also, we offer CCI printing at our cafe so you can get your work done, print it, and have it ready immediately, without the hassle of waiting in a long line to print.
Quality.
Coffee is our passion and our art. Each of our baristas has gone through intensive coffee education and training at Counter Culture Coffee’s regional training center in Durham. Once they complete the Counter Culture training, they receive additional training on site and must pass tests before making drinks for our customers. Baristas learn the tricks of the trade, including how to pull a great espresso shot and how to steam a variety of milks for lattes, cappuccinos, machiattos, and a variety of our other specialty espresso drinks.
Our coffee comes from local Durham-based Counter Culture Coffee. Like the Daily Grind and Friends, we always offer our House coffee, a single-origin coffee of the week, and our organic Decaf.
For those who prefer an alternative to coffee, we have a long list of Hot and made-to-order Iced teas that we serve, as well Hot Cider, Chai Lattes, and many more of your favorites. For our full list, check out our menu.
Ecological.
At the Global Cup, we realize that one of the most important commitments we can make to improve our world is to be a sustainable, ecologically-friendly business. In tune with the mission of the sustainably-designed Fedex Global Education Center, our cafe promotes sustainability globally and locally through our efforts, including:
-Our coffee is direct trade, which is pays even more to the farmers than fair-trade. To learn more about Fair-Trade, check out Counter Culture Coffee’s explanation of their fair trade practices.
-Our coffee is grown with sustainable agricultural practices, including being shade-grown and organic.
-Our cold cups are biodegradable. Also we encourage customers to use reuseable cups through lower prices for using your own cup.
-Our used coffee grinds are composted and used by local farmers.
-Our food is sourced from local businesses who care about environmental justice.
-We attempt to reuse and recycle as much of our waste as possible.
-We offer recycling of paper, glass, and plastic at our cafe.
-We offer a variety of vegan and vegetarian food, for those who want to reduce the carbon footprint of their food.
